A Heart That Longed for Love

“In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”
1 John 4:9 NKJV

There was once a girl who longed deeply for love. Her parents were always busy, believing that providing for her materially was enough—giving her money instead of time, never sharing in her joys, never telling her the stories she longed to hear. She felt utterly alone, as if no one truly saw her, understood her, or cared about her heart’s desires—what she loved, what she hated, what she dreamed of, or what she feared. She ached to be loved.

So when a boy said he loved her, she accepted him without hesitation. Not because she had thought it through, but simply because someone finally seemed to care—someone was willing to stay, to listen, to be there. And so, she gave herself to him. But then, she became pregnant, and the boy abandoned her. Broken and drowning in pain, she turned to reckless ways—chasing fleeting pleasures, numbing herself with alcohol and distractions. Regret and shame consumed her. She believed she was unworthy of love, yet her hunger for it only grew stronger. She searched everywhere, but true love always seemed just out of reach…

When the world feels dark, cruel, and indifferent—know this: There is Someone who sees you. You may not know Him, but He has known you since before you were born. You may not think of Him, yet He thinks of you—every little thing you love, the songs that move you, the colors that delight you, the people who matter to you. You may not hear Him, but He is always near, listening to your heart’s whispers, your deepest longings. You may not love Him, but He loves you—so deeply that He willingly gave His life for you, silently enduring the cross, just to tell you: You are worth more. You are meant for freedom, for joy, for abundant life.

We all crave a love that is vast and selfless—but who can give such love? Who would even try? Who truly cares about the deepest cries of our hearts? Only Jesus. He willingly bore every curse, every pain, every wound, every insult, every rejection—even death itself—just so you could begin again, so you could truly live.

Ephesians 3:17-19
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Let us live in Jesus’ love, embracing the radiant hope He bought with His life. Let us experience His love anew, rediscover what love truly means, be filled with it, and then pour it out to others.
